The long-awaited development located at the corner of Bull Headley Road and Bannerman Road is set to complete this June.

The Shops at Bannerman Village will feature a Publix and Starbucks.

This development plan is called Project Cawthon and is headed by the Boos Development Group, a commercial real estate developer out of Clearwater.

The development consists of approximately 180 acres of land, and District 4 Commissioner, Brian Welch, is heavily involved in this project.

Project Cawthon started in Spring of 2022, comes with the hope that local residents can have a more walkable and bikeable means of patronizing businesses, according to Welch.

He also says that he project is market-driven “to bring more retail and restaurant offerings to the growing NE. My goal is to make sure the project causes as little disruption as possible while adding to the quality of life of our residents.”

Per Welch, the Starbucks will feature a 1,800 square foot covered and lit patio, covered bike locks, EV parking, and a drive-through for ease of access.

Three large, mature live oak trees are located on the property, and they’ll be preserved.

A small park featuring a park with benches, a perimeter fence, and plaque memorializing the original Cawthon House will be constructed within the parking lot of the area.

This Publix location is expected to have a grand opening in early June, according to Welch.

The opening date for the Starbucks is to be determined.
