VyStar Credit Union celebrated the grand opening of its Tallahassee-Mahan branch on Wednesday, January 18 with an official ribbon cutting ceremony, remarks from VyStar executives, and donations to local agencies.

Located at 3208 Mahan Drive, this is the second Tallahassee branch, with the other located on Tennessee Street, and the 68th overall for the credit union which provides banking services to customers in Florida and Georgia.

The event began at 10:30 a.m. in the lobby of the new location, with VyStar President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Wolfburg highlighting the planned growth of the company, which plans to open 25 new branches in Georgia and Florida over the next several years.

Following remarks from other VyStar executives, the ribbon cutting ceremony was held, with Vice President of Universal Retail Banking Miron Richardson holding the scissors.

In celebration of the new branch opening, VyStar made a $30,000 donation to Knight Creative Communities Institute, a local non-profit organization dedicated to implementing projects benefiting Tallahassee business and economic growth.

VyStar also announced the donation of school supplies, which were on display in the lobby during the ceremony, to the Foundation for Leon County Schools, to be distributed to students in need.

“VyStar is committed to the communities we serve, and our core value is to lead by example,” said Richardson. “Our purpose is to do good, and we are committed to giving back to our communities.”

The Tallahassee-Mahan branch offers touchscreen kiosks, which will put financial tools and information literally at its members fingertips when they visit.

In addition to being a full-service branch with indoor and drive-through accommodations, the location will house a regional contact center, and promises to bring 25 more jobs to the area.

Additionally, a Starbucks Coffee will open in the branch sometime this year, enhancing the customer experience.

The branch lobby will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
