From arts to sports, Tallahassee has summer camps for all families

The Capital City is offering a number of fun and exciting summer camps for the kids. From outdoors camps to art camps to sports camps and everything in between, there’s likely to be a camp that appeals to your child. Here’s part two of what camps are offered in Tallahassee this summer:

Outdoor camps:

Tallahassee Museum Summer Camps — This camp is for children in kindergarten-8th grade and features a new theme each week. Kids will experience ziplining, outdoor activities and educational activities. It runs throughout the whole summer.

City of Tallahassee Summer Playground Camp — This camp is for children ages 5-16 and features activities based on age group at different sites throughout the city. The camp focuses on self-esteem and social skills-based activities in both indoor and outdoor environments. It runs from the beginning of June through July.

FSU Flying High Circus Camp — This camp is for children ages 7-17 and focuses on real-life circus experiences taught by current FSU students. It features flying trapeze activities, juggling activities, tight wire activities and more. The camp runs from June through August.

Environmental camps:

ReThink Energy Camp — ReThink’s Energy Camp is a summer camp designed to teach children the impact of fossil fuel usage, the options of renewable energy, and the fundamental skills required to downsize energy use and environmental impact. Participants will join in hands-on experiential activities on climate change, how to make a solar oven, alternative transportation, growing food, and renewable energy solutions. Camp sessions will be July 11 - 15, and July 25-29, at the United Church in Tallahassee.

Art & STEM camps:

Foundation 4 ARTS Summer Camp — This camp is for children ages 3-13 and features a multi-faceted programming that focuses on STEM, dance, art, sign language, sewing, cooking and more. The camp runs all summer long.

Franklin Academy ST.E.A.M — The summer course for students of Leon, Jefferson, and Gadsden County will focus on photography, astronomy, robotics, computer classes, public speaking, reading, writing, art, piano lessons, and math. Registration deadline is May 27. Courses will be from May 30 - July 15. Contact:

North Florida Christian Brushes and Bytes Camp — This camp is for children in grades 1 through 6th and features art and computer and technology-based activities.  It runs from the end of May through the first week of June.

AR Workshop Summer Youth Art Camp — This camp is for children ages 7-14 and runs all summer long. It features DIY projects, including tee-shirt design and paint projects, for both boys and girls.

Camp Urbie Featuring Snapology — This camp is for children ages 5-14 and focuses on fun and education activities and building confidence both mentally and physically. It features hands-on STEAM activities and different Snapology-based building tasks, including video game design and robotics.

Sports & Outdoor camps:

Tallahassee Jrs Volleyball Club Summer Camps — This camp features volleyball training for boys and girls in elementary and middle school. It runs from the last week of May through the second week of June.

Maclay Summer Camps — This camp is for ages three through 18 and includes soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, and tennis. Their camps run from June through August.

FSU Basketball Summer Camp — This camp is a basketball-focused camp for children ages eight through 18. It takes place from the first week of June through the second week of June.

Gallop’s Summer Camp — This camp is a martial-arts-focused camp for children in preschool, elementary school, and preschool. It takes place from the beginning of June through mid-August.

Gallop’s Summer Camp — This camp is for children in kindergarten through exiting 7th grade. The program runs all summer long and features karate activities, games, arts and crafts and a morning and afternoon snack as well as a hot lunch.

Generations Church Mega Sports Camp (Plus+) — This camp is for children in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. It features basketball, cheerleading, baseball, flag football and more, as well as cooking and art courses. It runs during the middle of July.

Happy Trails Ranch Summer Camp — This camp is for children ages 7-13 and features basis horse riding techniques and activities for both boys and girls. It focuses on saddling and bridling horses, riding around corals and more. It runs from June through august.
